About "The Lady Bird"For this painting I did first the rough on a sketchbook and then I used exclusively Photoshop. I tried to pull together a few stages of my working progress here. Flamingos, inspired me to do the “bird” part of this creature. The little challenge was to find a balance between the bird and the human. It took me a bit of time to find the right legs position and size. At the beginning the legs have been painted bigger and the result was not very esthetical! |
I focused on the creature, less on the background, attempting to bring a fantasy and romantic touch, doing my best to keep an elegant posing. The creature is surrounded by hummingbirds, parrots and butterflies. Detailed pictures of this creation steps are below: And the final image see below. |

About MeI’ve studied animation and design at Gobelins in Paris, then worked for Walt Disney feature animation I had to quit my production activities last year (2007) after 10 years of hard work as Art Director, then as Creative Producer, without regrets. After almost 14 years in animation industry, today I am really happy to have taken back my artist’s life and have time again for my personal work. Currently I am working as independent, creating graphic concepts, bibles and advertising material for Production companies and video games. Even if my experience is the traditional cartoon drawing or 3D, I missed all this time the opportunity to paint realistic subjects. This genre is quite new for me, but I really like doing it. I would like to combine this realism with much more expressive characters, using what I’ve learned in animation. This is something I have to explore much more!My real passion is to paint fantasy and fairy-tales. Best wishes to all of you, Sophia Web-site: www.mysideworld.com |
