Overall Modeling Process

For the modeling process of this scene I used 3ds Max, I used polygonal modeling and some nurbs curves for basic curvy objects for interior mainly which were converted later into polygons. The more details you can add to your model the best it will look in the final image. The process begins with a basic references planes setup.

After the whole body is completed I start addingdetails this means, grills, headlights, rearlights and all the elements of the car.

For the lights I prefer modeling the whole thing because it will look better and you have more control over it than if they were just textured.

Wheels are very important too, so if you add more details they will look more realistic.

For the interior I usually do mediumdetailed stuff as it’s not often required, but if it’s required for closershots it done with all the details.

The correct scale of the elements is a keyfor a photorealistic result.

Lighting and Rendering

The image was rendered using Vray, and the setup isquite simple, after playing with Vray Sun I decided to use a Target Directional Light as the Sun because it was easier to get full control over the scenelighting. The car materials where heavily tuned after many render test to givethe desired look.

The ground was not rendered as part of the scene, it was treated as a mate object and only visible for reflections. The background is a place called “Uyuni Salt Desert” in Bolivia which is in my opinion an exotic place perfect for this scene. The same background image was converted to HDRI and adjustedin Photoshop for the reflections override.

Post Editing

The final postproduction was made with Photoshop, and the process was very simple too. Here is a small animation to show it.

And here is the final result.

Thanks for watching and I hope this Makingof was illustrative.
